Olympian inspires Park House students

Former pupil and Team GB Bobsleigh Driver Annabel Chaffey welcomes Year 7 students

STUDENTS were given an inspirational start to life at Park House School in Newbury this year with a talk from Olympian, and former pupil Annabel Chaffey.

The Team GB Bobsleigh Driver and second fastest Female Monobob Driver in the world welcomed the Year 7 pupils to the school offering them words of advice and support from her own experiences at the school and her learnings out on the runs.

Headteacher at Park House, Derek Peaple, said: “It has become a Park House tradition that our Year 7's first day at their new secondary is made especially exciting by the visit of an Olympian or Paralympian.

“It was therefore particularly special that this year our very own winter Olympian was able to inspire the next generation of Park House students, wonderfully describing the lessons that she had learned by 'living the values' during her time at school.”

The school has regularly offered its Year 7 students a warm and inspirational welcome in recent years with visits from Olympians and Paralympians offering words of wisdom as students embark on their secondary education.
