Scratched and scraped but Thatcham team complete charity ride
But what should have been an enjoyable experience for area manager, Marco Pasquino, turned into a bit of a bumpy ride.
He said: "We were all prepared for the race and excited and eager to get going at the start.
"About half way through the race, I was cycling downhill at over 30mph when another cyclist pulled out in front of me.
"As I swerved to avoid collision I hit a concrete drain and somersaulted over the handlebars."
Paramedics from St John Ambulance took him to the medical centre, while his team members rescued his bike.
He said: "I was in good hands and I’d like to thank the paramedics for their excellent care.”
Down but not out, Mr Pasquino and the other team members continued, crossing the line in a group finish.
He added: "I couldn’t have carried on without them, I am proud that these guys are my colleagues and friends.”
The Quicklight riders managed to raise more than £2,200 for the British Heart Foundation.
