St Mark's Primary looking for community spirited volunteer

COLD Ash St Mark’s School is still looking for someone to keep children safe during school runs.

The Cold Ash Hill school was awarded funding for a lollipop person earlier this year with the aim to have someone start in September.

However, with the October half-term looming, no one has come forward.

The funds followed parents concerns about children’s safety during school peak times, with governors saying there had been a number of close calls.

Headteacher at St Mark’s Sue Ball said: “I’m very disappointed that we have been unable to fill this position.

“We are appealing to anybody to take on this role to keep our children safe on the road.”

Mrs Ball said that the applicant would need to be reliable, friendly and be able to start as soon as possible.

St Mark’s was one of 20 schools to receive funding out of more than 6,000 primary schools that applied.

The campaign is run by Churchill Insurance, launched alongside PTA UK and supported by Road Safety GB.
