Season opens with a bite
Mr BB Wolf joins the January entertainment at the Corn Exchange
WITH a successful panto now behind them, the Corn Exchange is diving head-first into their new season of shows in town and at New Greenham Arts.
Straight from a run at the London International Mime Festival, Blind Summit Theatre bring their new award-winning adult puppetry show to Newbury on Tuesday, January 24 and Wednesday, January 25. A puppet stuck on a table... a ballet of disembodied heads... a story told entirely by pieces of paper emerging from a briefcase... in a visual journey inspired by Beckett, the Bible and Ikea. What's not to love...?
Perhaps you'd prefer to get swept up in a chilling tale of a world in flux, from Croatia's leading playwright. Invisible, by Transport is a funny and moving exploration of the many sides of migration.
January is a good month for music lovers out there too, with a sold-out performance from Elkie Brooks and few seats left for Voice of the Heart: Karen Carpenter. And there'smuch more, from the mesmerising guitar theatrics of Larry Miller or the beautiful melodies of Barb Jungr and Gwyneth Herbert.
Finally, children are in for a treat once again with an afternoon in the company of Mr BB Wolf, a renowned thespian and notorious villain as he attempts to set a few records straight in Wolf Tales.
There should be something in January to take your fancy. To book your tickets, visit www.cornexchangenew.com or call the box office on (01635) 522733.
