Second Tea in the Park event for Bucklebury?

Bucklebury Farm Park could host a celebration for the Diamond Jubilee after the success of the royal wedding

FOLLOWING the huge success of the royal wedding Tea in the Park party at Bucklebury Farm Park earlier this year another bash is in the offing to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee next year.

The Bucklebury Events Committee is currently putting together plans to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's reign with another party at the farm park.

The chairwoman of Bucklebury Parish Council, Wynne Frankum, who also sits on the events committee, informed the parish council on Monday that a day-long party, similar to the royal wedding event on April 29 which saw 2,500 people descend on the park to celebrate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, was being planned.

The Diamond Jubilee event will be a little more modest with the anticipated absence of international media, but it is hoped it will be no less popular, with everyone in Bucklebury once again invited.

A special series of limited edition mugs were commissioned by the events committee to mark the royal wedding, and were given to all children in the parish, and another giveaway for next year has also been mooted, with different ideas, including pencil cases, suggested.

The parish also has plans to host an event around the 2012 London Olympics.
