Kennet School’s workshop moulds primary pupils into clay artists

Schools in the Equinox Learning Trust are collaborating on workshops to inspire younger pupils, writes Kyra Radley.

Pupils from Whitelands Park and Francis Baily primary schools were brought together to have an art and design workshop led by department staff from KennetSchool.

The pupils were taught skills like indenting and relief and by the end of the two days had produced a collection of 120 clay tiles which have been taken back to Kennet School to be glazed and fired.

The products of this collaborative event will be showcased in an upcoming art exhibition on July 18.

Art teacher Naomi Martin said: “We were incredibly impressed with the amazing work produced by the pupils during this collaborative art workshop.

“It’s inspiring to see how pupils from different schools can come together, share ideas, and create something truly beautiful.

“We look forward to future opportunities for our trust’s schools to collaborate and continue to create art that inspires and captivates.”
