Send us your photos and memories for the 80th anniversary of VE Day
This year will mark 80 years since the Second World War ended.
And we want to hear your memories of how West Berkshire celebrated the end of this conflict for an upcoming history feature.
The Allies accepted Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender in Reims on May 7 and in Berlin on May 8, 1945, after nearly six years of war.
The day, marked as Victory in Europe (VE) Day, officially ended the Second World War in Europe.
People celebrated across the world. In Britain, people threw street parties and gathered in Trafalgar Square and The Mall, where King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and the Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
In Newbury, streets were decorated with flags and people sang and danced in the Market Place into the small hours.
Commonwealth and US servicemen, along with young women, also celebrated with a dance in the Corn Exchange.
