Welcome to this week’s Dog of the Week, writes Bethany Sirianni.

Dogs Trust Newbury still has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.

And so every week we will continue to shine a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.

Nationwide, the charity currently has 725 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

Today, we’re bringing you good news. An adoption success story for a senior rescue dog called Ned.

The 10-year-old terrier cross arrived at the rehoming centre in March from the local dog warden, where he spent a month in the care of Dogs Trust Newbury.

While at first he was a little anxious, he quickly came around and showed his loving and gentle side.

Within a few weeks, Ned was officially rehomed and is now living out his golden years in a new home.

His new family has been in touch with the Dogs Trust team at the rehoming centre to share that he’s thriving in his new home.

He enjoys quiet time in the garden, snoozing in his soft bed, and making the most of every opportunity to explore his surroundings.

Natasha Tarrant, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Newbury, said: “Ned may have been in his senior years, but he still had so much love and companionship to give.

“It’s always wonderful to see older dogs find the second chance they deserve, and we’re delighted that Ned is now enjoying the retirement every dog should have.”
