Welcome to this week’s Dog of the Week.

Dogs Trust Newbury still has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home, writes Caitlyn Gregory.

And so every Sunday we will continue to shine a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.

Nationwide, the charity currently has 711 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

Meet Sulley, a shy but loving 3-year-old foxhound cross, who has just arrived from Penrith, after he was found with five other hounds.

Whilst the big, wide world still feels a little scary, Sulley is starting to come out of his shell and is craving more love and affection to boost his confidence.

He is a sensitive soul, but with the right owners, a truly magical bond is sure to grow.

Since joining the trust, Sulley has started to develop a little more assurance and the trust’s Newbury base explained: “While Sulley’s behavioural rehabilitation may take some time, the progress he has made with us is incredibly promising.”

Sulley would be the perfect fit in a quieter home, ideally with a large and secure garden, where he can continue to grow at his own pace. With access to outdoor space, he could be left alone for longer periods, making him an ideal fit for those with busy lifestyles.

He is most likely to thrive when living with another calm, more assertive dog to provide support and companionship.

“If you’re ready to open your heart to a handsome hound who needs a little extra love, Sulley might just be the perfect companion for you,” the Trust added.
