Several events will take place to mark the launch of the 2011 exhibition at Shaw House

The Elizabethan mansion in Newbury will play host to a series of ‘Woolly Wednesdays' events throughout August with family fun activities for all.

Kicking off on Wednesday, August 3, the ‘Wonderful Wool' event will be held in partnership with the RENEWAL Project, providing visitors with the chance to get involved with knitting and felt making, while a special flock of real woolly visitors will be outside in the grounds.

The following week (August 10) will see visitors create their own painting of the story of the Newbury Coat alongside the Newbury Art Group on ‘Watercolour Wednesday'.

Subsequently, there will be activities such as making woven bookmarks on ‘Wicked Weaving' on Wednesday, August 17, learning the art of felting on ‘Fabulous Felt' on Wednesday, August 24, and making coats for favourite teddy bears on ‘Creative Coats' Wednesday, August 31.

All activities are suitable for children aged four and over, but anyone under 15 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
