UPDATE, 2.15pm: The northbound carriageway remains closed at this time.

National Highways has said it now expects the road to be cleared by 2.45pm.

The A34 is currently closed in one direction after a serious collision.

The northbound carriageway is shut between the A415 at Marcham and the A4183 at Sunningwell.

Emergency services, including Thames Valley Police, as well as National Highways traffic officers, are currently at the scene.

There are long delays of nearly an hour on the road, which is not expected to be cleared until nearly 2pm.

A diversion is currently in place and National Highways is advising drivers to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs.

It added: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.

"Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
