Serious two-car accident on A4 in Thatcham

The accident happened this afternoon (Sunday) on the A4 near the junction with Hambridge Road.
Two fire crews, two ambulances and several police cars all attended the scene and an air ambulance landed before leaving the area.
Police spokeswoman Rhianne Pope said that police were called to the collision between a Volkswagen Golf and a Volvo at 3.35pm this afternoon.
Newbury fire station said that two fire crews attended and that one of the drivers had to be cut free from one vehicle.
The woman was then transported by road to hospital.
She is believed to have been treated for broken bones and police reported no other injuries at the scene.
