Reading Magistrates' Court: Newbury sex offender breached court order

A MAN convicted of a sex offence has breached the terms of his court order.

In December 2020, Adam Lineker Gillespie was sentenced for sexually assaulting a woman in Reading on a specified date in 2019.

The 30-year-old, who used to live in Hungerford but who has since moved to St John's Gardens, Newbury, had denied the offence but was convicted following a trial.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months and ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register.

But on Tuesday, June 14, Mr Lineker was back in the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court.

He admitted failing to comply with a community requirement of the suspended sentence order by failing to attend appointments on several occasions including on March 1 this year.

The court, which had the option of activating the suspended sentence, instead changed it to 12 weeks suspended for two years.

In addition, Mr Gillespie was required to complete extra rehabilitation activities.
