Shalbourne gears up for May Day fair
Event attracts visitors from far and wide
VILLAGERS in Shalbourne are preparing for their annual May Day Fair.
The fair is a long-standing tradition which regularly attracts visitors from across West Berkshire and beyond.
The event takes place on the Bank Holiday Monday and proceeds from the day will go to the Shalbourne Pavilion Fund.
The fair runs from noon until 4pm and music will be provided throughout the afternoon by the Hungerford Town Band.
As well as a range of craft stalls, which will include locally-made goods, and the ever-popular plant sale, there will be a well-stocked barbecue, Pimms stall and tea tent plus plenty of games and entertainment for children.
Shalbourne School will help provide entertainment with dancing and, following on from the success of previous years, there will be a dog show. Due to the large number of entrants in 2014, this year’s dog show will be held in its own arena.
There will be plenty of marshalled parking and, while a small donation is always appreciated, entry to the fair is free of charge.
