Sheep flock herded off M4 between Newbury and Reading

Spokeswoman for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nicole Targett, said crews from Newbury and Kintbury were called at 6.37pm, after a call by Thames Valley Police, for assistance with removing 30 sheep from between junctions 12 and 13 of the motorway, westbound.
“The firefighters were requested by police to help cut a hole in a fence to herd the sheep through, back into a field,” said Ms Targett.
“They assisted police in channelling the sheep back into the field and then reconstructed the fence afterwards.”
Firefighters left the scene at 7.09 pm.
The motorway reamined open throughout, with slow moving traffic, according to Thames Valley Police.
