Solar farm plans for Pamber Green and north of Sherborne St John: Villagers invited to drop-in session to learn more about two-site proposals
Plans to build a new solar farm will be available to view next week.
RWE Renewables is holding a drop-in session allowing residents to learn more about the proposals for the renewable energy scheme over two sites.
One would be in Pamber Green, the other north of Sherborne St John, both in North Hampshire.
The company says the Aldermaston Road project will have the potential to power 16,000 homes, while offsetting 1.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The plans include beehives, bat and bird nesting boxes, wildflower meadows and pastures for sheep to graze.
There would also be a new amenity space suitable for walkers and picnics.
It is also hoped the project would enhance soil quality.
Ben Kwok, development project manager at RWE Renewables, said: “We are currently in the early stages of the proposals and are looking to members of the community to help shape the scheme.
“We want this scheme to reflect the wants and needs of local communities and we are very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts throughout this important engagement period.”
The consultation event will be held at Sherborne St John Village Hall in Kiln Road on Wednesday, July 24, from 2.30pm to 7pm.
An online event will be held on Wednesday, August 7, from 6pm.
A project website, at uk.rwe.com/aldermaston-road-solar, will launch next week giving more details of the scheme, with the consultation closing on Wednesday, August 21.
