Shefford Woodlands pub goes into administration
However, the hotel, restaurant and watering hole, popular with the racing fraternity, remains open for business as usual.
The pub had been jointly owned and run for the past decade by Robin Young - father to Pop Idol star Will Young - and Johnny ‘the Fish’ Ferrand.
The aptly-named pub has long been a key fixture in the world of racing, hunting, shooting and fishing.
Chief executive of Legacy Hotels and Resorts Ltd., Andy Townsend, said: “The business got into financial difficulties which resulted in (Mr Young and Mr Ferrand) placing it into administration. The whole shooting match - no pun intended - is up for sale.”
The freehold for the business, which employs around 20 people and comprises bar, restaurant and 11 hotel rooms, is on the market for £775,000.
The sale is being conducted by Christie and Co.’s Winchester office in Hampshire, which describes it as an “AA Four Star, established 16th Century inn with rooms, restaurant and bar area, large car park and rear garden.”
Administrators FRP Advisory appointed hotel and leisure management services company Legacy Hotels and Resorts Ltd. as managing agents to operate the business on a day-to-day basis.
Mr Townsend added: “Johnny is still there as ‘mine host’ and the business is on the market as a going concern.”
