They donned Tudor hats, ruffs and cloaks for some fabulous Courtlye Musick
Courtlye Musick took the audience back in time at Shipinnarts, Ashford Hill, recently.
Shipinnarts reports “a fabulous concert” when Anita and Mark Felton, Gareth and Anne Jones from Courtlye Musick, who specialise in authentic presentations of Renaissance and Medieval music, played many replica instruments from Shakespeare’s time and sang beautiful songs.
Dressed up in period dress of the time, they took the audience with them on a historical journey, playing music from Dowland, Byrd, Thomas Morley, Thomas Ravenscroft and many more composers of the day.
Jon Whitfield cleverly narrated the whole concert, connecting all the various different pieces of music. “It was brilliantly done!” said Vanessa of the Shipinnarts team.
The audience could dress up with some of the hats, ruffs and cloaks the group brought along with them.
“The whole evening was very memorable and delicious refreshments were served,” added Vanessa. “Thank you to all who came along.”
The next event is Open Mic on Friday, May 5, at 7pm.
Following this is An Evening with 3p Suite, an a cappella trio with guest singer Tori Eglin on Saturday May 20, at 7pm.
