Shoppers dig deep for 4x4 fund

On February 22, shoppers donated £705 to the West Berkshire Rapid Response Car charity, which currently has three Skoda Scouts and one Volkswagen Jetta.
Each car is driven by a fully-qualified volunteer paramedic or medical technician, who assist the emergency services with incidents in West Berkshire and the surrounding areas in their own time.
Often they arrive at the scene before other emergency services.
The charity is currently seeking funds to replace the Jetta, its oldest vehicle, with a more appropriate four-wheel-drive Skoda Scout, but needs to raise around £30,000.
WBRRC chairman and trustee Andrew Sharp said: “The new vehicle will ensure our responders can reach incidents in our rural community as safely and quickly as possible.
“We would like to thank everyone who has given a donation towards our new response car – but we still have a big target to reach.”
