SHOP Local Week is coming to Newbury from Monday, June 29, and is a chance to celebrate the independent retailers of the market town.

During the week, which is organised by Newbury BID (business improvement district) as part of NewburyFest, people are encouraged to ‘shop local’ and the week will culminate on Saturday, July 4, with Independent’s Day and the return of the Covent Garden Entertainers.

The managing director of Newbury BID, Russell Downing, said: “We are throwing down a challenge for everyone to buy everything they need in Newbury town centre.

“As an added incentive, many of the independent outlets will have special offers in place – look out for what these are on the NewburyFest website and print out the leaflet to take advantage of some great discounts.”
