Shortlist of three for control tower bidders
Presentations will now be made to West Berkshire Council next week, but a decision on which bid has been successful is not expected from the executive committee until November 28.
Council spokesman Keith Ulyatt said that he could not reveal the identities of the shortlift because the information was commercially confidential, which means it is not clear whether Greenham Parish Council is still in the running to become the new owners.
When the council announced its intention to sell off the former US airbase property, located on Greenham Common, in March, the parish council put a temporary halt to proceedings when it said it planned to make a bid for it under the Community Right to Bid scheme, part of the Localism Act.
The council wanted to buy the building to be used as a community space for local people.
Mr Ulyatt said: “The process needs to take place in private so that those bidding and those making the decisions are not comprised in any way.”
