Shortsfest
On Saturday Arlington Arts, Snelsmore, will be hosting The Box Short Film Festival, showcasing the talents of local filmmakers. Event director Chris Rands says: ‘With the falling cost of technology it has never been easier to make movies. What was once only possible with expensive equipment can now be done with everyday cameras and software, enabling a new generation to learn and develop the magical art of filmmaking.
"There is huge amount of enthusiasm out there, with many hobbyists and independent filmmakers writing and producing their work, which largely goes unseen by the local public – we just don’t get to see how strong the local talent is. We are hugely excited to be able to launch an event with the intention of inspiring and encouraging local filmmakers to produce, and present their work - to get these filmmakers, writers and actors together to strengthen the art in the local area.’
'We invited local film makers to submit short films from autumn last year and have been blown away by the quality of the entrants, and are pleased to be screening a colourful cross-section of films this weekend. It will be an eye-opening evening, with some very beautiful, high quality and entertaining entries..
The film festival is supported by Quantel, who will be inviting the winners to their state of the art suite to experience and learn how the biggest filmmakers make their pictures.
The festival is organised by The Out The Box Performance Group, and screenings will start at 8pm.
