Cab ‘fouling’ fines double in West Berkshire
Cab drivers sick of people fouling their vehicles have got fines doubled.
People 'fouling' the inside of a taxi cab in West Berkshire will now face fines of up to £200.
The council has agreed to double the fee after a consultation with drivers, although there are now different types of charges ranging from £100, for one to four passengers, and £200 for five to eight passengers.
Exterior fouling fees are now £25, for the lower tariff, and £75 for the higher one.
Previously it was a £25 maximum charge.
The foul fees are payable to drivers immediately.
An updated table of fares, which sets out the revised fouling charges, has been posted on the Public Protection Partnership website.
The revised table came into effect on May 27, 2024.
