Silchester musician to appear on The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday

Robin Scott, who rose to global fame over a ten year period as a member of the Abba tribute pop group: Bjorn Again, before leaving the group two years ago, has since been somewhat busy with a wide variety of musical projects.
Monday (April 23), saw the release of a new album: Shakespeare: The Sonnets - which includes his tenor vocals - and sets 11 of The Bard’s sonnets to music, accompanied by Elizabethan instruments including a Theorbo - with string lengths of over 170cm, a sackbutt, curtal, harpsichord and early trumpet.
The album was released on St George’s Day (April 23) - also the anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birthday - and to celebrate the cultural Olympiad 2012.
Speaking to Newburytoday.co.uk from his Silchester home yesterday (Thursday), Robin Scott - a Silchester villager of ten years - said recording the album had proved “an amazing experience.”
Although qualified with an honours degree in music, he had "only ever done pop stuff,” he said, adding:”When I stand in the middle of all those instruments it’s really beautiful, you think: ‘Well there’s a lute over there and a harp over there...’”
The versatile musician also recently collaborated with the renowned composer/conductor/producer, Tolga Kashif, on a musical composition to accompany the relay of the Olympic flame as it is carried through many towns and cities ahead of the London Olympic Games.
“It’s still being written and will be released for the June Olympics,” he said.
Robin Scott is due to appear on the Andrew Marr show on BBC One on Sunday (April 29), following Marr's interview with the Prime Minister, David Cameron.
