Silchester's first beer festival was a success

Sold-out beer festival offered real ales and ciders from local breweries

SILCHESTER's first beer festival proved a huge success.

A range of real ales and cider from breweries in North Hampshire and Berkshire were enjoyed by locals and visitors at the sell-out event (pictured above, photograph by Pete Hughes) on September 10, raising funds of around £500 towards improvements to the village hall.

Local band Frottage proved very popular, and revellers were also provided with bowls of chilli, courtesy of the landlady and landlord of the Calleva Arms, Simon and Sharon Bumpsteed.
