Sonia Brown’s Silver Swans join global livestream from Thatcham for World Ballet Day

Ballet dancers from Thatcham will be pirouetting with the rest of the world on Wednesday (November 1).

The biggest professional ballet companies across the globe will be live streaming their classes and rehearsals for World Ballet Day.

For the first time, the Silver Swans in Thatcham are too offering this ‘fly on the wall’ experience.

Silver Swans ballet is a dance group run by Dance with Sonia Brown aimed at getting people aged over 50 dancing.

This is the 10th year the global event is taking place and dance instructor Sonia Brown says she has been wanting to get involved for years.

“As far as I’m aware, we’re the only dance class in the area to have ever done this, especially for World Ballet Day,” she said.

“We’re hoping it gives reassurance to people who’ve always wanted to try ballet but have found the thought of taking the first step too daunting.

“From the comfort of their own home, everyone will be able to see the level of ballet we get up to, and what sort of people attend.

“Hopefully it’ll inspire people to start dancing, as do the professionals on the live streams, but on a more attainable level.”

The Silver Swans will be going live at 11am on Facebook at https://tinyurl.com/mrh9zffp

They will also be live on Instagram at @dancewithsoniabrown
