Sisters are doing it for themselves
BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award finalists at Arlington Arts tonight (Thursday)
Along with special guest Naomi Sommers, the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award finalists will be playing at Arlington Arts, Snelsmore, tonight (Thursday, 8pm). Just out of their teens, twin sisters Charlotte and Laura Carrivick have grown up playing and writing music together. Their style shows their strong bluegrass influences without obscuring their English roots. With tight harmonies that only siblings can achieve, they perform their original songs on guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and clawhammer banjo. They have performed both in the UK and internationally.
With roots in bluegrass, the blues, jazz, traditional folk and old-time country, singer/songwriter Naomi Sommers is emerging as one of the most exciting voices on the US music scene.
Tickets, priced £7.50, are available from the box office telephone (01635) 244246, or visit www.arlingtonarts.co.uk
