Infant sleeps peacefully through incident
A SIX-week-old baby accidentally locked in a car at a Newbury supermarket car park this afternoon (Mon) slept peacefully through the entire incident.
One pump from Newbury Fire Station was called at 1.15pm to Tesco Extra, in Pinchington Lane, where the baby boy was asleep on the front seat of a silver Renault, with the keys left inside the vehicle, after the central locking mechanism had accidentally triggered.
Firefighters found a very calm mother they said and the baby which remained asleep, until and after the RAC arrived to unlock the vehicle. Further assistance from firefighters was not therefore required.
"The baby didn't wake up all the way through," said a firefighter who was at the scene.
Firefighters left after about half an hour.
