Sixteen new homes proposed for Great Shefford
PERMISSION is being sought to build 16 new village homes.
The application is in respect of land west of Spring Meadows in Great Shefford.
The playing fields of Chaddleworth, St Andrew’s and Shefford Primary School adjoin the southern site boundary.
A letter to planners from the agents states: “The submitted information demonstrate that the proposed development delivers a range of housing types in accordance with the council's policy objectives and contributes to meeting local housing needs.
“It has been designed to respect surrounding context and character of the area, incorporating high-quality architecture, landscaping, and measures to improve biodiversity and energy efficiency.
“We believe this proposal presents a well-considered opportunity to deliver sustainable development in line with the National Planning Policy Framework and the West Berkshire Local Plan.”
The applicants go on to state: “The proposed development involves the erection of 16 medium-density dwellings.
“The housing will be arranged on both sides of a road accessed centrally from the eastern boundary along the existing road at Spring Meadows.
“The proposed dwellings will consist of detached and semi-detached properties.
“All the dwellings will be two storeys with rear and front garden areas.
“A new pedestrian footpath will link to the Site from Spring Meadows together with a new footpath to link to the western boundary PRoW [public right of way] to the south-west.”
The parish council has yet to comment on the application in its advisory capacity to West Berkshire Council planners.
Meanwhile the plans, including a flood risk assessment, can be viewed in full, and commented on, by visiting the planning section of West Berkshire Council’s website and using the reference 25/01800/FULMAJ.
