Sixth Formers at The Downs School in Compton celebrate their last day

Staff and pupils at The Downs School in Compton came together this week to give a heartfelt send-off to its Year 13 students.

But their Leavers Day was also a memorable one, featuring a very enthusiastic tug o’ war between each tutor group with their teachers cheerleading.

Live music from student performers added to the uplifting mood and gave everyone a chance to come together as a whole year group for the last time.

Headteacher Chris Prosser addressed the students. He said: “As you step into your next chapter, whether that be university, apprenticeships, work or travel, carry our values with you. Stay courageous in the face of uncertainty.

“Take responsibility for your choices. Stand for equality and fairness. Be ambitious, be resilient, think creatively and always act with integrity. These are not just values for school, but for life.”
