Slimmers celebrate opening of new Weight Watchers branch in Newbury
The weight loss group has consolidated all of its local groups and will now meet at the Chequers Hotel, Newbury.
At the event were a number of its existing members, who together lost a total of 347 stone last year.
Among them was McDonalds employee Lisa Hayward who lost almost four stone with the group in six months last year, and Thatcham taxi driver Kelly O-Donnell who dropped from a dress-size 14 to a size eight between April and her wedding in July last year.
The event ran from 10.30am and Newbury mayor Anthony Pick officially marked the launch of the new venue with the cutting of a ribbon.
One Newbury Weight Watchers leader, Sarah Hill, who helped to organise the event, said: “The whole team are really excited about running their new meetings in the centre.
“We are passionate about promoting good health in the local community and having a convenient base for members to visit and fit in with their lifestyles is vital to this.”
She added that running one venue rather than several would allow for an increase in meetings - from six last year to 12 this year - with more flexible times.
