The run-up to Newbury Comedy Festival begins tonight with the first open mic competition
It's open mic night tonight (Tuesday, 8.15pm) at the Corn Exchange. Newbury Comedy Festival's search for outstanding new comedy talent has a reputation for unearthing gems. With ten comedians and a compère at each Heat, make sure you are in with a chance of seeing the Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre or Sarah Millican of tomorrow. Previous winners of YMBJ include the wonderful Imran Yusef, Ian Smith, Papa CJ and 2010 winner Matt Richardson who will return to compère this year's final on 12 July.
