Something wicked comes this way

It's high drama and wonderful music as Kennet Opera perform Verdi’s Macbeth at the Corn Exchange from November 15 to 17. This tale of intrigue and dark events, combined with Verdi’s memorable score, is based on one of Shakespeare's finest works, and is sung in English. Macbeth is one of Verdi’s most popular operas following successful revivals in recent years. Kennet Opera chairman Andrew Berkley says: "It's very exciting that so many people have been able to pool their talents and bring Verdi's masterpiece to the stage in Newbury. With Shakespeare's famous story being sung in English, this is opera at its most accessible."
Award-winning Australian director Greg Eldridge will join forces with musical director Rebecca Berkley, professional soloists Simon Edwards, Demelza Stafford and Szymon Wach and with soloists and chorus from members of Kennet Opera and talented young singers from Berkshire Maestros.
Eldridge is a young director specialising in operatic theatre. After training as an actor in Australia, he completed specialist training in opera directing at the Accademia Europea di Firenze and has worked on over 30 productions in Australia, Italy, England, Scotland and Germany. In 2012, he worked on productions at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the King's Head Theatre London and, most recently, on a production of

for Lyric Opera Weimar in Germany. Of Macbeth, he says: "This remains at its heart a story about ambition, duplicity, sacrifice and loss”.
