South East set to escape worst of Storm Frank

Met Office says West Berkshire and Hampshire will avoid gale force winds and heavy rain

THE South East is set to escape the worst of the heavy rain and gale force winds that are continuing to batter much of the country.

Storm Frank is tearing through Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England, but the extreme conditions are not expected to hit West Berkshire and Hampshire with the same severity as other parts of the UK.

The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings for many parts of the country, but none for the South East - although it has warned people that this morning will be windy with rain expected this afternoon.
