Speen pub raises more than £2,000 for Help for Heroes

There was a wealth of modified cars, together with a raffle, prizes and stalls for entrants.
Organiser of the event , Amanda Coppen, said: “It was brilliant – we had well over 100 cars turn up and the car park was overflowing out onto the road.
“The pub was absolutely packed.”
The day raised £2,113 in total, a figure far above the original estimate.
Amanda said: “It was a huge success as I estimated about £300. To raise that much money, I just couldn’t believe it.”
Over the last six months, the West Berkshire Cruisers Club has raised nearly £5,000 for the charity, which offers assistance for wounded military personnel and Amanda promises that more fundraising work is planned for the future.
Landladies of The Starting Gate Claire Seymour and Shellie Cook were happy to host the event and delighted with its success.
