Auction for families to spend night at Beale Wildlife Park in West Berkshire

Beale Wildlife Park is offering three families the opportunity to spend the night on its premises, in a bid to raise money for Action for Children's 'Boycott Your Bed' campaign.

The places are being sold in an online auction, running from today (Friday) through to Sunday.

On July 9, winners will be able to enjoy an evening tour of the park, and to use all the play equipment on-site.

Details on bidding for a place can be found on Beale Park's Facebook page.

Beale Park chief executive Lucy Costello said: "We see it as a wonderful opportunity for us and some of our visitors to demonstrate our support for a superb cause.

"The idea of boycotting your bed for a night is a brilliant way to remind ourselves that there are many children out there who know few of the comforts that we take for granted.

"Given the animal and bird calls that are so much a part of our world, we think it represents an amazing place to wake up to."

Park organisers are working with charity board member Peter Mols and his three-year-old son Max.

Mr Mols said: "We adore the place and this will be like going on safari for a night.

"If we can at the same time raise some money for a fantastic cause, then it really will be an achievement.

"For most of us, happier times are ahead as we come out of the pandemic.

"But for children and families already in desperate need, this crisis has made things even worse.

"For them, there’s no end in sight. Action for Children’s key workers have been going above and beyond to support these families and will continue to do so, but they need our help."
