Spitfire to appear at Royal County of Berkshire Show

While the Spitfire performs in the skies above Newbury Showground, there will also be aerobatics on the ground as a BMX stunt team gives demonstrations as well as giving local young people the opportunity to develop their own skills with training sessions.
Show chairman, Ian Nutt, said: "Securing the Team Extreme stunt riders is quite a coup and their displays should light up the day for the younger generation.
"We are also working hard on our sports zone which will be especially popular with kids who want to learn new skills – and with grown-ups who simply want to know how best to relax."
Once again there will be a host of cattle with a chance to see lots of rare breeds of cattle, sheep and poultry.
And with the Berkshire show selected as the venue for its national finals this year no cattle breed will be more popular than the Aberdeen Angus.
But for the less serious minded, there will be an opportunity to see sheep dance - amusing on-stage antics that will include a New Zealand-style shearing demonstration.
There will also be entertainment in the scurry competitions with pony and traps racing through a coned course against time.
On top of all of this there will be a full-size reproduction Spitfire on the ground, The Royal British Legion Band and Corps of Drums Romford making a return visit, a hotly contested floral arts contest with an international flavour for Olympics year, local international show jumper, Tina Fletcher and about 600 shopping stands and craft stalls.
Newbury showground general manager, Becky Elvin, said: "The show is established as Berkshire’s biggest and best family event.
“It changes every time and this year will be no exception in terms of excitement.
"We are still finalising some attractions and will be making more announcements in the weeks ahead.”
The Royal County of Berkshire Show takes place on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16.
Online tickets are now on sale at www.berkshireshow.co.uk and they will also be available from 50 local outlets from late July.
