Spooky Hallowe'en events in West Berkshire today
The centre will be hosting a Green Hallowe’en Day, a free drop-in event with family entertainment, games, and wildlife-themed crafts to make and take home, between 11am and 3pm on Friday, October 31.
Children can win prizes for the scariest, prettiest and most creative costume and can also hunt for creepy crawlies and learn where they hibernate during winter on a spooky stroll around the lake – but watch out, as hidden Hallowe’en characters will be lurking along the route.
For details, visit www.bbowt. org.uk/whatson or call (01635) 874381.
Meanwhile, Newbury’s Hallowe’en Haunt Hunt is taking place until Saturday. A Hallowe’en workshop has been set up on East Street in Parkway, where children can participate in a range of half term activities and collect a special form before following a spooky trail around the town collecting clues.
Those who find all the clues will be entered into a draw and be in with a chance of winning a prize.
The prize draw takes place on Saturday. Cobbs Farm Shop in Hungerford is hosting a Halloween spectacular tomorrow (Friday).
The fun starts at 10am and goes on until 2pm. There will be apple bobbing, pumpkin hurling and a local face painter to help transform even the sweetest angel into a scary beast.
Prizes will be given for the best costume and best carved pumpkin and entry is free.
The Creepy Cruises on the Kennet and Avon Canal will see horrors aboard the Jubilee narrowboat. Dare you go aboard?
Children are encouraged to dress-up in Hallowe’en costumes to trick or treat the boat crew.
There will even be ghost stories as you cruise. Trips will last for one hour and will run at 2pm. Tickets are available from the Newbury Visitor Information Centre.
People are also being invited to go pumpkin hunting at Bucklebury Farm Park. Guests can take a walk on the wild side through the new spooky woodland maze, play seasonal games in the haunted house and take part in Hallowe’en craft workshops or have their face painted.
Also, head over to the Five-a-Day market garden at Englefield to carve a pumpkin lantern and have a go at some eco art.
