Sport, activities and three fun runs at Thatcham Family Fun Day
At the centre of the activities will be an arena where visitors can sit and watch live music, an interactive children’s science show and a tug of war competition.
The Spring Charity Fundraisers’ Junior Fun Run will see competitors completing a 750m course with a shorter race for young children and a mascot race for Thatcham Town Council’s mascot, Cyril the Squirrel, to match his talents against other local characters.
Cold Ash Brass will be playing during the event on the stage and Thatcham Rugby Club and Newbury and District Volleyball Club will be offering demonstrations and free taster sessions.
A street of charity and commercial stalls will provide a selection of activities and amusements and a small fun fair will be available for adults and children.
Numerous local charities will be fundraising on the day and all the catering providers and attractions are donating part of their takings to charity.
The event, which is sponsored by the Newbury Weekly News, starts at 11am, with the mayor of Thatcham, John Boyd, officially opening it, and finishes at 4pm.
The main charities to benefit will be the Spring Charity Fundraisers and the Thatcham mayor’s charities of the year: The Meningitis Trust and Coles Diner.
