Cup crowns league title for Document House

IT’S two-down and one to go for Document House after their 2-1 win over Thatcham Tornadoes in the Lambourn Cup final in Many Clouds’ village on Sunday.
Having already beaten Tornadoes to the league crown, the pair are due to meet again in the final of the Knock Out Cup at Newbury on May 10 with a treble and a compensation prize on offer to the respective teams.
A sometimes scrappy first half saw Document House snatch the lead when Marc Green battled through to round the goalkeeper and score from a tight angle, and they doubled their lead early in the second period when Chris Blackford’s cross curled to the far side of the box for Russell Benham to volley into the top corner.
Chris Corcoran had a couple of long range efforts for Tornadoes but goalkeeper Mark Jones was never seriously troubled until he conceded a penalty, although House might have added a third when Gary Tingle weaved his way through but his chip over the goalkeeper came back off the bar.
