Tadley seek cup success and league form

TADLEY CALLEVA have a cup scalp in sight when they entertain Combined Counties League Hartley Wintney Town in the Hampshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

The competition brought rewards for Tadley last season when they knocked out holders Basingstoke Town on their own ground before bowing out narrowly to Southern League Sholing.

“Hartley Wintney are my tip to win their league,” said Tadley manager Danny Dolan, “they are a league above us and they’ve got players who should be playing at a higher level.

“But we’ll give them a game.”

The reward would be worth it - the chance to bring giants Aldershot Town to Barlows Park for the first time.

But before that tie, Tadley gio ins earch of Wessex League points at US Portsmouth on Saturday with Dolan admitting: “We’re not playing well at the moment,” although his side remains unbeaten in the league, albeit after only two games.

Dolan has had to rejig his squad this week following the departures of Carl Self to Newbury and Sam Hamilton to Hampshire League Stockbridge, and he is without striker Ryan Stephens fir the Portsmouth trip and marksman Brett Denham for the cup tie. New signing from Highmoor Ibis, forward Rory Palmer is not available next week.
