THATCHAM shook off an early setback to beat lower division Shortwood Reserves to reach the next round of the Hellenic League’s Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup.

Will Morford’s early shaker was set aside as Bradley Pagliaroli and two goals from Josh Helmore gave Thatcham a comfortable interval lead that was stretched when Chris Gerrard lashed the ball home from distance.

Liam Meredith’s late free kick gave Shortwood a second, but Thatcham secured a comfortable passage.
