Josh Helmore - Town equaliser
TEN-MAN Thatcham Town bowed out of the Hellenic League’s Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup after a penalty shoot-out in Saturday’s quarter final at Brackley Town Saints.
They had looked set for an early exit when they had Mark Hughes sent off and trailed 4-2, but goals from Yashwa Romeo and Tom Moran forced extra time and an eventual penalty decider that Brackley won 4-3.
Thatcham had earlier twice come from behind to pull level with goals from Jordan Seward and Josh Helmore, and to cap their day, they lost their top spot in the Premier Division table when Kidlington beat Flackwell Heath 1-0 and they now head Town by a point with two games in hand.
TADLEY CALLEVA barged into the top four in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League with a 5-0 thrashing of Hythe and Dibden at Barlows Park.
