Last chance to warm-up before the big kick offs

Hungerford's Nicholas Bignall takes aim against Bristol City

HUNGERFORD TOWN’S pre-season programme ended with a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of a Bristol City XI in the only game played at Bulpit Lane.

The only goal came 10 minutes after the break when £50,000 signing Arnold Garita latched onto goalkeeper JoJo Wollacott’s long clearance that was helped on by striking partner Shawn McCoulsky and Garita charged down a loose ball and beat on-loan goalkeeper George Legg to the touch.

Hungerford had gone closest to breaking the first half deadlock when James Clark rattled the bar and Woollacott kepot the lead intact just before the end when he saved from Harry Goodger in front of a 136 crowd.

Hungerford had won 4-0 at Binfield on Thursday night with goals from Harry Goodger, James Clark, Luke Williams and Matt Day.

Thatcham Town capped their pre-season programme with a 3-0 win away to Southern League AFC Totton with James Tennant netting twice and Callum Willmoth once, all in the second period.

Thatcham open their Hellenic League programme at home to Ardley United on Tuesday night.

Tadley Calleva are also in league action on Tuesday at Alton Town in the Sydenhams Wessex League, and they also warmed up successfully with a 2-0 home win over Hellenic League Premier Division Shrivenham with both goals netted by skipper Scott Kinge.
