THATCHAM TOWN face a possible-season defining weekend of league action when they face one of the in-form teams giving chase to them at the top of the Hellenic League’s Premier Division.
They go to Bracknell Town on Saturday, who ended Thame’s unbeaten record in midweek and follow that on Tuesday with with an intriguing match against Burnham, the side Town humbled 11-0 on their own turf in August.
Burnham have since regrouped under new manager Gifton Noel-Williams, and have won three time in four outings, but Thatcham will be hoping to go into that game still topping the table after their trip to face Bracknell.
The Robins are currently playing at Sandhurst Town while their own Larges Lane ground is undergoing massive redelopment that will see a 3G surface opened for play from next week for community teams with the first league fixtures scheduled for December 6.
Bracknell are currently nine points behind Thatcham, but have five games in hand and their win over Thame kept them a point beneath The Kingfishers, albeit with three matches to spare but regardless of the result, Thatcham will remain top on Saturday night as Thame are without a fixture and the other prime contenders, Flackwell Heath, are five points adrift with two matches in in hand.
The match will also see two of the league’s top strike forces in opposition with Town’s former Bracknell striker Shane Cooper-Clark heading their league goals return with 17, ahead of James Tennant’s 13 while Adam Cornell and TJ Bohane have 20 and 17 respectively.
Bracknell are repeating the offer they made to supporters at the Thame game last week by making entry to Saturday’s game at Sandhurst free to all.
TADLEY CALLEVA are also involved in a top of the table clash when they entertain Wessex League Division One leaders Laverstock and Ford at Barlows Park on Saturday.
KINTBURY RANGERS and LAMBOURN SPORTS met in the North Berks League at The Recreation Ground with reigning champions Rangers mid-table and Sports propping up the Division One table.
