Town fall apart in second half nightmare

Callum Willmoth - sent off as Town fell apart

Bracknell Town 5 Thatcham Town 2

THATCHAM threw away a promising first half in a second half of ill-discipline as they fell apart to concede four goals in the space of 25 minutes and have two players sent off.

Town were in positive mood in the game payed at Sandhurst and they were given the best of strarts when Jame Tennant put them ahead after only 18 seconds.

When Tennant added a second goal inside five minutes and Bracknell goalkeeper Chris Grace had to pull off two smart stops, it looked as if Thatcham would romp away with it.

But Bracknell reached the break with no further damage inflicted and the half-time arrival of winger Joe Grant proved to be the start of Thatcham’s undoing as he terrorised the visitors down the flanks.

TJ Bohane puled one back and Adam Cornell levelled the scores before Grant was brought down in the box for Seb Bowerman to put Bracknell ahead from the spot and Thatcham’s discipline fell apart.

Callum Willmoth was sent off for appearing to stamp on Bowerman, and referee Nathan Briggs promptly waved a second yellow card at Danny Lachacz to leave Thatcham with nine men.

Cornell completed the misery with two goals to complete his hat-trick, and while Town remain top of the Hellenic League Premier Division table, they are only a point clear of Thame, who have four matches in hand, while Flackwell Heath, Bracknell and Highworth all have the games in store to overhaul The Kingfishers.

Thatcham Town: Rackley; Lachacz, Collier, M. James, Jacobs; Johnson, Willmoth, Melledew Tennant; Helmore, Cooper-Clark Subs: Brownhill, Browne, Thomas, Lewis, Miller.
