Town bid to shake off Bracknell blues

THATCHAM TOWN will be happy just to get back to winning ways when they entertain Burnham in the Hellenic League’s Premier Division tonight at Waterside Park.

Saturday’s 5-2 beating at Bracknell came as a thumping blow to their title hopes, and the visit of bottom of the table Burnham should offer a comparatively

steady step back to form, even if a repeat of the 11-0 mauling Thatcham carried out at the Bucks club’s ground in August is a long-shot.

It will be difficult to know which Burnham side will be turning up. They had been showing signs of playing themselves back into a safety spot and last week’s 4-2 win at Oxford City Nomads was a third win in four games.

But the club has since parted company with manager Gifton Noel-Williams, the former Watford striker who was in charge for less than three months but has struggled to dovetail the job with his existing coaching work.

Director of football Luther Blissett finds himself back in charge, although the first result was a 1-0 loss at Longlevens on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 7.45pm.
