Flood sweeps Crusaders out of the Trophy

FLOOD saw Hungerford swept out of the Buildbase FA Trophy after the striker’s first half goal took Borough into the First Round proper of the competition at Bulpit Lane.

Flood struck shortly before the interval after Hungerford had struggled to create chances in the opening period.

They dominated long spells after the break, and went close to an equaliser when James Clark hammered a header against the post and Borough goalkeeper Lewis Watch made a couple of vital stops as Hungerford pummeled the visiting defence in the closing stages, keeping out shots from Garyn Preen and Rhys Tyler as Hungerford battled for a replay chance.

But Borough claimed the purse as Hungerford made a disappointingly early exit from the competition.

No sparks flew at Thatcham Town’s Waterside Park where their top o the table clash with Thame United was switched off by an electrical fault at the ground.

Tadley Calleva beat lowly East Cowes Vics 2-0 at Barlows Park in the Sydenhams Wessex League with goals from Brett Denham and Scott Kinge.
