Sports bar set for Newbury

Bar Sport, Sports Bar and Grill will replace the George and Pelican pub on Bartholomew Street and will create around 26 new jobs.
Work has already started on the new pub, which will show a range of live Sports everyday and serve a range of classic American style dishes.
Speaking to Newburytoday ahead of the opening, owner and managing director of the Newbury bar, Claudio Altini, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring something different to Newbury and it is something that I think will benefit the local people here.
“Our ethos is that we want to not only want to make it safe and welcoming for women, but to also give the place a real community feel.
“We are also very keen get involved with the local sports clubs and hopefully try to offer sponsorship in the coming months.”
The current George and Pelican pub closed in January 2012, before that it was known as Varsity.
