Shaw House welcomes over 600 to spring food and craft fair
More than 600 people flocked to Shaw House last weekend to visit the historic venue’s annual spring food and craft fair.
Taking place between 11am and 4pm on Sunday, the fair featured around 60 local vendors selling local produce and craft gifts and it was spread throughout the 16th-century house and its grounds.
Some of the local businesses at the fair included Kennet Road Krafts, handmade textile seller Clementine Blossom and woodworkers Plane & Simple.
Shaw House manager Nik Stewart said: “It went really well. We had over 600 people visit the fair across the day which was great.
“We had around 60 local craft and food stalls in the grounds and throughout the whole of the house.”
Mr Stewart admitted the weather could have been better, but he added: “It was a great way to start the Easter holidays and the series of public events we have on over the next couple of weeks.”
He also made special mention of and thanked visitor services officer Sarah Somerville for managing the event.
The day also featured two performances from the magical nanny and the cheeky chimney sweep of the West Berkshire-based children’s entertainment company Jollypop that were watched by more than 100 spectators.
Shaw House will be open for public visits over the Easter weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 11am and 4pm. The house will be closed on Good Friday.
